Terms of Service
RVTDocs is a free reference site that makes the Revit API documentation easier to browse, search and compare across versions. These terms keep things fair and clear for everyone. The short version: the service is free, be a decent person, code shared here is free for anyone to use, and nothing here is affiliated with Autodesk.
RVTDocs (this website) is operated by Erik Frits, an independent software developer based in Austria. It is a free, developer-facing reference for the Revit API. There are no paid features, no subscriptions and no ads.
By using the site, or by creating an account, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Accounts are optional. You only need one to use the community features: sharing code snippets, commenting, saving bookmarks and earning XP.
- Sign-in works exclusively through Google or GitHub (OAuth). This site never sees or stores a password for you.
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- You are responsible for activity on your account. Keep your Google or GitHub account secure.

This is a code-sharing community: public content you post here (code snippets and comments) is meant to be reused. By posting it publicly you agree that anyone may copy, adapt and use it in their own projects, commercial or not, with no attribution required, in the spirit of open source. If you cannot or do not want to share code on those terms, keep the snippet private or do not post it.
You also grant this site a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display and distribute your content as part of the service. That includes making public content available in machine-readable form to search engines and AI systems (for example through indexes, feeds or exports), so the community's knowledge stays easy to discover. The site's license ends for content you delete, except for short-lived copies in backups; copies of public code that other people already took remain usable under the paragraph above.
Public contributions are shared to be used. This site is a community reference: by posting a public code snippet or a comment you also grant every other visitor a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to read, copy, adapt and reuse that content, including any code in it, in their own projects and products, commercial or not, with or without attribution. Treat everything you post publicly as open knowledge, and do not post anything you are not willing to share on these terms.
- Only post content you have the right to share.
- Anything reused from the site is used at the user's own risk; test code before shipping it (see No Warranty below).
- Content that breaks these terms may be removed by moderators.
Keep it useful and keep it legal. Do not:
- post content that is illegal, hateful, harassing or impersonates someone else;
- post malware or intentionally harmful code;
- spam comments or snippets, or flood the site with promotional content;
- scrape the site at rates that degrade it for others;
- probe, attack or attempt to disrupt the service or other users' accounts.
The service is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available". No guarantee is made that the documentation is accurate, complete or current, that the site will be available without interruption, or that any code sample (official or user-contributed) is fit for any purpose. Always test code before using it in production. When in doubt, verify against Autodesk's official documentation.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and mandatory statutory rights (including consumer rights in the EU) remain unaffected.
Features may change, be added or be discontinued at any time; the service is free and evolves continuously. These terms may also be updated. The date at the top of this page always reflects the latest revision, and significant changes will be announced on the site. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
You can stop using the site at any time. The operator may suspend or terminate any account, or restrict access to any part of the service, at any time and at his sole discretion, with or without cause, notice or explanation. This applies in particular, but not only, to accounts that violate these terms or harm the service or its users. The service is free of charge and there is no entitlement to continued access.
These terms are governed by the laws of Austria. If you are a consumer in the EU, the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected.
